My collection ‘The Memory Vessel’ was inspired by memory jugs which are vessels into which small objects, representing cherished memories, are placed. The styling of each memory jug is unique, covered with texture, and multiple materials, making it a perfect container for objects that will keep memories from fading away.
Multi-color patterned latch-hook vest with back ties, worn over a color-blocked sleeveless hand-knit sweater, and fully fashioned skirt. The “Look” is accessorized with a knit balaclava, mittens, and slippers.
The color-blocked sleeveless drop-shoulder hand-knit sweater, and the vessel-shaped skirt, programmed by the M1 softwear, represent a memory vessel. The vest was created using a latch-hook technique.
The latch-hook vest is fastened at the back with hand-woven straps. The hand-knit balaclava and embossed woven mittens emphasize the overall shape of the silhouette.
The different textures of yarns are woven together in various directions, signifying mixed memories. The pieces knit with purl stitch, create a natural transition between the latch-hook panel and the woven straps.
All the stitches, and various textures, flow like one from head-to-toe. A handmade flower of multiple textures, sits in a memory jug
